Organizing for the New Year

It seems like we all resolve to live cleaner, simpler, more organized lives at the beginning of a new year. Most of us typically succeed…for awhile and then start to fall off the wagon as the year progresses, but one thing I’ve learned about living in an apartment is that you don’t really have a choice. You have to stay organized or the place will close in on you. Like reallllly close in and suffocate you. Ok, that may be a bit dramatic but it’s tough living in a small space when you have a dog and a baby and a lot of stuff from your previous house:) One area of our apartment that has been a clutter collected is this little nook in our entryway. A great place to have clutter collect, right? The first place people see when they come in. I have more organization coming to this space soon, but for now we turned to some new Rubbermaid All Access totes from Home Depot to help hide the clutter. Want to see into our embarrassing nook?
We keep dog food and treats and all of Pudge’s towels, toys, bones, etc. underneath. There is also a skinny tote with some cleaning supplies that we keep there. On top, we have a gorgeous basket I got for Christmas for the new house with some Christmas gifts still in there and a mess of random items. So, I grabbed a couple of Rubbermaid All Access totes and started clearing the clutter.
These are awesome. The front section is clear so you can easily see what you have stored in there. You can also open the tote from the clear section of the door so if there is something at the bottom you want to get to, you can just pop out the front and get it. Cool, right? It didn’t take long to organize items into the two new totes and get things put out of sight.
Much better, right? At least everything isn’t strewn all over the place. I have another piece to this clearing up coming next week!
