Creating a dream bathroom on a budget

I have a great guest post article today about creating your dream bathroom. Great tips-we may need this for our new house!
The bathroom is the one room in your house where you can shut the door and take ten minutes or an hour just to yourself, to relax in peace and quiet. Whether you’ve just bought the house of your dreams or you’ve lived there for years, the bathroom needs to be decorated in a way that makes you feel happy, so here are some tips on how to create a bathroom that suits you and your needs, but on a small budget, as we all know that we’d prefer to spend that little bit of extra money somewhere else.
Everyone has a different idea of how they’d like their bathroom to look. If it’s the type of place you’d like to escape to, you probably want it to have a spa-like feel, with plenty of luxury.
One thing that makes a big difference in how your bathroom looks and feels is the lighting. Many people use the bathroom for checking their appearance, shaving, applying makeup, and many other fiddly tasks, meaning the light needs to be good so that you look good. Big windows that let in a lot of natural light are great, but if that won’t work in your current bathroom, use what you have cleverly to get the best out of it. Make sure to install dimmer switches so that you can adjust the lighting for different situations; remove that glaring fluorescent bulb; and place mirrors to bounce the light around the room.
One of the things we all hate is getting up in the morning and wandering into the bathroom only to get a shock at the cold tiles underneath our bare feet. Make your mornings a little less stressful by installing Warmup Heating underneath those freezing tiles; you’ll be amazed at what a difference it can make!
There are lots of small changes you can make in the bathroom too which will make it seem a lot more relaxing and spa-like. For a luxurious feel, try placing a few houseplants around the room, on the vanity units or windowsills. Not only will they brighten up the room, but they conjure up the image of a relaxing spa.
Try to keep your bathroom all under one theme. You might want it to look very sleek and stylish:
keep it all monochrome in black and white with minimalistic accessories.
Or perhaps the idea of a nautical themed bathroom floats your boat: in that case, use plenty of blue and white in different shades with touches of red here and there, and perhaps display ornaments of boats and anchors, or wrap mirror frames in thick rope.
It’s not difficult to get the bathroom of your dreams, and generally most bathrooms just need a few touch ups here and there to create a more relaxing and peaceful environment.
