Cinnamon French Toast on Homemade Bread
March 6, 2013 | Posted by Jessie under Yummy Food |
Last weekend we decided to make French Toast for breakfast with some leftover homemade bread we had on hand and it was absolutely delicious.
Make the bread ahead of time because it is a little time consuming {just to wait for it to rise}-super easy though! I used this recipe and here’s what you’ll need for one loaf:
- 3 1/2 cups flour
- 1 tsp. yeast
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 2 T. sugar
Then to make the toast, you’ll need the following:
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1 T sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 4 slices homemade bread
- 1 T butter
- maple syrup to top
Beat together the eggs and milk. Add sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Melt butter in a skillet and dip bread in egg mixture on both sides. Cook over medium heat for about 4-5 minutes until both sides are brown. Top the toast with a little more cinnamon and eat with syrup.
You’ll be in breakfast heaven:) What’s your favorite weekend breakfast?

French toast is a favorite… But we do waffles with bananas and pecans! And sausage egg and cheese quiche… Thanks for the recipe!
Oh those waffles sound delish! We might have to try that next time:)
