Nursery Update: DIY Shelf
| February 20, 2013 | Posted by Jessie under Baby, Nursery |
I’m back with another nursery update! We got the rest of the shelving up this weekend so I think we just have a side table to add left and a few more little accessories. I’ll hopefully have the big reveal for you soon! When we were at Ikea in January, we looked into some shelving for the room. We knew we wanted a long shelf above the dresser/changing table area and Mike thought he could make one for cheaper than the Ikea shelves so we scooped up a couple of cool, stainless brackets from Ikea and Mike used some wood we had on hand to make the shelf. I painted the shelf in Annie Sloan’s Old White to match the dresser, which we also painted. The wood just slides inside the stainless brackets and holds everything in place. For now, I just stuck some of the cute stuffed animals Baby H. has already received on there with a cute dry erase board that a very sweet parent made for me, but I know I’ll be working on the accessories as the room comes together.
The changing area will be on the dresser where that middle basket currently is. I plan on using the baskets to hold all the baby changing necessities:) Only 7 1/2 more weeks until Baby H. is due to be here!!!
Have you ever DIY’d a shelf? Or do you prefer to keep it easy and buy the Ikea ones?

The room looks absolutely beautiful and I CAN’T WAIT TO MEET HER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Grandma Hyde is getting anxious!
