Never Pass Up a Door in a Dumpster {How to spray paint a glass paned door}

Good morning! I’m finishing up the last of the tutorials this morning on our pantry makeover and there isn’t a whole lot of “tutorial” to give for this one, but I will share how we made over the glass paned door. Mike found 2 of these sitting next to the dumpster at his work. I received this text from Mike and was, of course, on my way over as soon as I got off of work.
They were definitely worth looking at. Two beautiful French, glass paned doors in perfect condition. We loaded them up, brought them home, and then tried to figure out where they would fit. They were pretty narrow so individually or together they were going to be too narrow to put in most doors in our home. Someone mentioned trying our pantry door and it amazingly was the perfect fit. The only problem with the doors was the not-so-pretty brown color. We decided to paint them a glossy black paint for a high-end look. We started by prepping the doors with Frog tape and newspaper {including the hardware so we didn’t have to remove any of it}. The prep is a little time consuming, but the paint is so fast that the it makes up for the lost time:)
We used Rustoleum’s black laquer paint to get the super high gloss finish we were going for.
It worked great. We only needed one coat in most areas and just had to touch up a few others at the end. We love the finish. Just a reminder of the door we had before:
And our new, shiny, beautiful glass paned door now:
We love how it turned out. For about $5 worth of spray paint and an hour of work, it definitely adds so much to the kitchen.
What do you think? Would you take a door out of the dumpster and put it in your kitchen?
