Kitchen Update: Striped Bench Cushions

For some reason it seems like we just can’t quit updating the kitchen. After our big overhaul last summer we have made a few tweaks here and there, like making bench seats {parts 1 and 2} for our “new table”, updating the island, adding and painting a rug, etc. I sewed cushions for our kitchen benches using a gray linen awhile back and loved the color, but the fabric wasn’t really sturdy enough for everyday wear and tear at a kitchen table so when I stumbled across this black and white striped indoor/outdoor remnant, I knew it would be perfect {$5/yard!}. With our black appliances and white cabinets it works really well. You can read the tutorial here on how I made the linen ones because I used the same method for this update:)
I love the bold black and white stripes above the soft, muted gray and white rug. I made these a little over a month ago and they are definitely holding up much better than the linen. I don’t have to worry about them riping or losing their shape. Oh, and here’s a teaser for you…that nook behind the kitchen table where our door desk and linen skirt are? It’s getting a major overhaul! It should really class the place up:) Can’t wait for you to see!
What do you think? Do you like the bold stripes? Anyone else change fabrics often or have a room you just can’t quit updating?
I love the stripes. I think they look great!
Thanks, Morgan!
