Vacation Part 2: Gatlinburg with the Fam
July 12, 2012 | Posted by Jessie under Summer, Thoughts, Us |
I’m back with the second installment of our vacation pics for you today. I shared the first half at the beach {including pics from Haven and Hilton Head} and today we’re headed to the mountains. My grandparents celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 28th, the day we got to Gatlinburg, and the whole family came down to celebrate. Which means 18 of us in a cabin for 4 days of fun. My grandparents are the heart of our family so it was wonderful to be able to take a few days away for them. So without further adieu…
Day 1: Dollywood. Oh yeah baby. Grandma and Granpa’s request.
Day 2: Hiking and Sight-seeing. Those of us who could crawl of out bed got up at 5am and drove through the national park to an area called Caves Cove where you can see lots of pretty mountains, deer, the occasional bear, turkey, and some really cool old cabins and churches.
Day 3: Horseback riding. Half the crew went riding the other half went hiking. Fun was had by all:)
Trucking right along
My little cousins:)
Me and mom…
We also rode this crazy big ski lift thingy up to the top of the mountain that overlooks Gatlinburg. We thought it might be kind of scary but it was actually pretty relaxing and the views were worth the ride.
Me and my cousins at the top:)
Me and Mike at the top.
The last night all the cousins went HIllybilly Putt-putting. It was all sorts of fun. Even though my team lost. Womp womp. I had a great time with everyone, including this little one {who also doubled as my hair stylist for the trip:)}.
It was a wonderful few days with the fam. Lots of pretty scenery, tons of good food, and great memories with my grandparents.
Have any of you been to Gatlinburg? Did you enjoy the pretty scenery/avoid the tourist traps as much as we did?
My husband and I went to Gatlinburg for our Honeymoon and our favorite part was the Arts & Crafts Community Trail.
We drove through part of that too. Some really neat stuff!
Love the photos!
Thanks, Sharon!
