Haven and Hilton Head-Vacation Part 1
July 3, 2012 | Posted by Jessie under Photography, Summer, Thoughts, Us |
Well I’m about a week behind everyone else who attended the Haven conference but, as I mentioned yesterday, I took some time off from the blog last week because we drove to Hilton Head afterwards for the first half of our vacation. For those of you who don’t know, Haven is a blogging conference for DIY/home decor bloggers. It was a time to learn some blogging and DIY techniques and tricks, mingle with other bloggers, and simply spend some time with like-minded people, because let’s face it, blogging is a world of its own:) So, I’ll share a few pics from the conference today.
First up, the hilarious, honest and charming John and Sherry from Young House Love. They were the opening key note speakers and definitely didn’t disappoint.
One of the most genuine, sweet, open and kind people who I met at the conference was the Nester. Just lovely. I snapped a quick pic with her and my new blog BFF and Haven roomie, Tracie from Cleverly Inspired.
I was able to watch the incredible Ana White in action. And, yes, she wore stilettos and had insanely gorgeous hair while she sanded and drilled away. If only we could all be so talented…:)
I chatted it up with the beautifully pregnant Katie from Bower Power and Sherry and they were both so kind and hilarious.
I learned a ton, made new friends, and was completely exhausted after the two day extravaganza in the best way possible.
Moving onto vacation…Mike met me in Atlanta Friday night and we drove over to Hilton Head Saturday morning. We stayed at the Westin which was right on the beach. This was the view from our room.
So pretty. We did a lot of laying by the pool…
Ran on the beach every morning…
And took in all the pretty scenery. Side note-ignore my awful flat hair in all these pics…the humidity was unbearable and did nothing for the old mop I wore around.
We rented bikes for three days and tooled around town. We stopped and snapped some dorky pics {like Mike in the tree below} and also went on a little southern home tour. I have some gorgeous eye candy coming soon…
We spent one afternoon in Savannah, GA which is a little less than an hour from Hilton Head. It was a gorgeous, old town with tons of character.
We strolled by Paula Deen’s restaurant, Lady and Sons, and wandered through her store too.
When we left Hilton Head, we drove to Gatlinburg, TN. On our way there, we stopped in Greenville, SC and had dinner with one of my good friends, Kendall who mistakenly chose to live so far away from me:)
It was such a cute town with a great downtown area. Lots of pretty waterfalls, creeks and rivers, and a really crazy bridge. I’ll have part 2 probably next week with pics from the second {3rd for me} leg of our trip!
Has anyone else ever been to Savannah or Hilton Head? Any great must-sees to share?
