Mission Organization: Checking off the List
June 14, 2012 | Posted by Jessie under Before and After, Organization |
I’m happy to say Week 1 of Mission Organization was a success. Not only did I mark off the laundry room, I was also able to tackle another sorta-kinda-big space. Just a reminder of what’s going on with Mission Organization.
Here’s a rundown of some of the areas on my organization list.
- junk drawer #1
- junk drawer #2
- junk drawer #3 {anyone else have multiple junk drawers or is that just us?}
- underneath my bathroom sink
- underneath Mike’s bathroom sink
- bathroom drawers
- upstairs “storage” closet {aka junk room}
- the sewing room
laundry room- pantry
closet under the stair case
Yay two down! This isn’t any sort of gorgeous room before and after, but it is just as pretty to me because I can walk in the closet now:) I cleared out our storage closet that is under our stair case. Let me give you a little visual of where I’m talking about. This closet is in our kitchen, sort of diagonal from the laundry room, near the garage entrance. See where I’m going with this? You walk in from the garage, dump your junk in either the laundry or storage closet and it all piles up out of control. Oddly enough, it never puts itself away to where it is actually supposed to go. So annoying. Let’s walk into the room, nice and slowly. Watch your step.
I couldn’t even tell you what all was in here. Baking dishes {that are supposed to be in here}, old wreaths, my sewing machine, toilet paper, paper towels, bags of clothes, Dave Ramsey books, a box of wedding memorabilia {from 3 years ago}, etc. Such random stuff. So I started by tearing the room apart. It always gets worse before it gets better, right? So the kitchen became a tornado of random junk. I took out an entire trash bag of stuff that we don’t need/use, put the random items where the belong {novel idea}, and then gave everything that stays in there a place to live. And then, miraculously, it became all shiny and new. Let’s re-enter, shall we?
Toilet paper in a basket. Doesn’t get better than that. One beautifully organized closet keeps you motivated for the next, right?
Hopefully I’ll be back next week with another organized space!
You should come help me organize my new classroom. Lol!
Haha I’m working on mine now and it’s not going quite as well as my house:)
