Mellow Yellow

As you know, we are in the process of adding some softer touches to our master bedroom. After getting the new bedding and making some shams and a throw pillow, I am ready to bring in more yellow touches and decided to start with our night stands. Today, I’ll show you Mike’s side and tomorrow I’ll share mine:)
I snatched up another tray from Goodwill today for the hefty price of $1.99. Can’t beat it. This is what it looked like when i bought it:
I painted it with some leftover paint from our living room walls and then used a staining technique to age it, followed by a little light sanding. Here it is all worn and pretty.
I added our remotes, alarm clock, Mike’s current book, and an old tea kettle with some flowers. I found this adorable paper flower tutorial from Emily at Jones Design Company last week and knew it would be perfect for my nightstand. I’m not known for my green thumb and these are unkillable so they were a perfect fit {the paper is from Target for $1.00.} Cute, huh?
Total cost for the nightstand makeover: $2.99. Make sure you come back tomorrow to see my side of the bed. Let me give you a hint: it’s romantic, lacy, and of course, yellow.
The tea kettle is amazing!!
I snatched that up from my in-laws attic for free:)
You did a night and day transformation with this tray. I am going through a yellow phase right now. I also saw your new romantic lamp you made over…Would love to have you link it up to my lamp theme linky party….
