Quick Trim

I’m pretty sure Quick Trim is a weight loss pill so if you are looking for that, sorry to disappoint. We put some trim up in our bedroom over the weekend to add some interest to a pretty bland wall. This is a quick (hence the title of the post), cheap project and really filled our big blue wall.
Before (sorry the top is totally cut off):
After:
The how-to:
Measure out where you want the molding. I slapped up some masking tape to make a rough outline of what it would look like in the end. We then did some more precise measurements based on what we thought would look good. We ended up doing about a foot all the way around the tv. For the side rectangles, we made them about a foot and a half wide and the same height as the tv box.
Paint. We painted all our molding white so it would pop against the blue walls.
Cut. Mike was the sole cutter in our house. He’s much more handy than I am. He used his little angle box and cut the corners to create 90 degree angles. From what I heard out in the garage, it was a little more difficult than we originally anticipated because the molding was a little bowed but he’s so smart, he got it figured right out. (That was my kissing up so he’ll do more projects for me in the future).
Nail. If you have a nail gun I’m sure it would go even quicker but we predrilled our holes and used the old nail and hammer method and it worked just fine.
We still need to fill in the nail holes with putty and paint over them but it’s looking pretty good so far.
It cost $21 for all the molding and we used leftover paint that we had in the garage. Cheap, easy, and looks great. Now, if I could just find a way to hide those ugly tv cords…
Side note: I added a cute little pillow to our entry bench so go back and check out the updates if you didn’t see it yesterday!
Oh your pillow is really cute and adds to the total look! Love the trim around the tv too. Your room is looking so good. Let us know if someone gives you a good idea to hide your tv cords; I’m clueless!
