Kitchen Week-Beadboard Backsplash

Beadboard is a great way to give your home a little country charm and is very inexpensive. Typically, beadboard is used as wall paneling but if you get creative, it can be used for other areas of your home as well. Our entire backsplash-trim and all-was only abut $40 and we love it. We started with just the beadboard but Mike found some trim and great light switch fixtures on clearance that finished it off perfectly. Here are some close-up pics:
We even took some of the leftover beadboard and created a chalkboard in our kitchen. I had a easel that had fallen apart (formerly used in the kindergarten class I used to teach in) and took the board and painted it with chalkboard paint. Then Mike framed it out with some leftover beadboard and put it in the nook in our kitchen. It ties it all together and is super fun to draw on.
Very clever idea! And great price too! You are lucky your husband is such a handy man!!
