Kitchen Week
January 3, 2011 | Posted by Jessie under Before and After, Inspiration, Kitchen, Paint |
We tackled a small kitchen redo in October and this is our new fresh, country kitchen. Or at least that’s what we call it. We painted, added a beadboard backsplash, refinished our kitchen table and added new hardware to our cabinets, along with a few small decorative touches. This week I am going to be showing you a few inexpensive changes you can make to get a whole new look in your kitchen. First step: put a cute puppy in your picture. It makes everything look better.
When we first bought our home almost two years ago, the kitchen was a dark green color with a wine/grape wallpaper border along the top. Definitely not our style. When we first chose paint colors for our home we knew we wanted a much brighter kitchen…and went orange. Not our best decorating decision. We never loved the color after it was up on the walls but lived with it for a while. Over a year actually. The kitchen redo started with just a paint color change but obviously things escalated and we got a great new kitchen-for not much money.
Here are a couple before and after pics:

We didn’t change any of the big things (appliances, flooring, counters, cabinets, etc.) but our new look flows seamlessly into our living room and is much softer, cleaner, and lighter. Check back all week to see how simple, inexpensive changes can give you a whole new look.
Love the kitchen table and chairs paint job and the pictures look great, including your own picture on the home page. Very pretty lady! Hope to see you soon.
Love,
Patty
I love it! I used to think blue wasn’t my color, but I used a blue tone in our basement bathroom when we finished it and fell in love. I also just did a major makeover in our master bedroom and have two blue shades and love it. It’s such a calming color! And, of course, bead board always looks amazing!
Thanks Nisha! I used to think warm colors were more inviting but I have totally changed my mind and am moving to cooler colors. They are more calming and just pretty:) I’d love to see your makeovers!

Do you mind me asking the paint color? This is exactly what I am looking for for our soon to be kitchen improvement.
Hi Jill!
The paint color in our kitchen is Windsurf by Behr {from Home Depot}. Good luck with your makeover!
